Biography

Jamie McGeechan writes songs of emotional depth and timeless storytelling, pairing heartfelt lyrics with soulful vocals rooted in folk, acoustic and Americana traditions.

Inspired by John Martyn, Ray LaMontagne, Damien Rice and David Gray, Jamie was born in Falkirk in 1985 and raised in Ayrshire, the land of Robert Burns, where he began performing at a young age. In October 2014 he became the first artist to record an album of Burns songs inside Burns Cottage itself. The resulting record, Roots, was featured on BBC Reporting Scotland. His album Midnight Kingdom was nominated for Scottish Album of the Year.

Performing solo and as Little Fire, Jamie has appeared at major festivals across Scotland, England, the United States and Australia, and has been heard on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Alba. Alongside his music, he has worked as a supporting actor in Outlander and Outlaw King. Now based in St. Louis, Missouri, he is the founder of The Bothy Network, a nonprofit providing mental health support for Scottish immigrants in the USA.
